Is there a way to allocate/limit memory for programs?
Ever since Firefox update to 3.5.3, Firefox has been devouring memory, spiking CPU usage to 99% or more, driving me crazy.
In earlier Mac OS, used to be able to manually allocate memory by accessing 'Get Info' for the programs. What, if anything, can I do to prevent Firefox from eating up my computer?

Some applications may be programmed to take advantage of more RAM such that a configuration setting will make the app ask for more memory. As far as I know, the way that a.nix-based OS works with regards to applications and memory is that it simply gives the memory that the app requests and if the request can't be filled, it will deny the request.
